Faraonský pes
Kosterní pozůstatky loveckých psů, podobných faraonskému psu,nalezená na Středním východě pochází z doby před pěti tisíci lety a z okolí celého Středozemního moře před více než dvěma tisíciletími.Tito psi přežili jako vyhraněná plemena na izolovaných místech, jako ostrov Malta nebo Baleáry.Faraonský pes se stal díky své kvalitní červené srsti nejpopulárnějším představitelem jeho skupiny.Na rozdíl od chrtů, kteří loví výhradně na viděnou, používá čich, sluch i zrak.
HISTORIE PLEMENE: Elegantní, důstojný faraonský pes je patrně potomkem drobného, křehkého vlka, který kdysi obýval Arabský poloostrov. Féničtí kupci dovezli plemeno na ostrovy Maltu a Gozo asi před čtyřmi tisíci let, kde se uchoval v čisté formě.
